The Facts, Period

Can we all agree that articles or op-eds that start off with assertions that are demonstrably false are counter-productive to the general discourse?

That Blumenthal piece was thinly disguised propaganda building ideas on nonsense.

You can do better....I hope.

It's not nonsense. Quit making untrue statements.

You claim his premise is false. Please demonstrate how.

If you go back and read, I already did.

Blumenthal believes certain things about our relationship with Europe that are simply not true as a whole. He also quotes a European official about who is more stupid in the Bush administration when, as far as we know, this could be one socialist radical amongst the gazillions of politicians there.

You can't form a reasoned opinion when your supporting points are apocryphal and not reasoned. Don't you see that?

I have no problem with differing opinions but, dammit, they should hold to some litmus test of fact.

I think Blumenthal's opinions about our relationship with Europe are based on sound research. When he talks about the many conversations he has with the many connections he has around the world, I'll take his world-view over yours anyday.

I would fully expect you to take someone of Blumenthal's credentials over mine any day.

But...but...what he said was a lie or, at best, a half-truth. Demonstably so if you research it objectively.

Remember the bumpersticker - question authority.

Details! You keep saying he's lying. I've asked you to demonstrate this. I don't have to research it. You're the one making the allegation.

Suz, don't be an ass.

You know as well as I do that Bush had a hero's welcome in Kosovo and that Sarkozy, a pro-US conservative, was recently elected in France.

Either you know these things and willfully choose to ignore them or you don't in which case you have no business commenting with any degreee of authority.

I'm pretty sure Blumenthal knows there things, hence the "lie" comment.

Again, don't be an ass.
