I think the reason we're getting so heated over this is that conservatives believe in individual responsibility and think that it's lacking here; liberals believe in things flowing from the government and see a poster case here to defend.
Nuff said.

It's NOT that we don't believe in personal responsibility. Of course we do! And as usual, you have no clue as to what we believe - although your right-wing buddies tell you what THEY want you to think.
We believe that when people need help they should be able to get it. That goes for you and Garrett. It's not mooching when you're going to lose everything if you don't get help.
Don't you just love folks who like to make insipid generatlites about liberals. That's like saying all conservatives are anti-Semitic just because a certain female nut-case on the right makes a defamatory comment about Jews.
I don't disagree, Suzie, with the basic premise about people needing help getting it.
I am simply questioning the lifestyle choices these people made to put themselves in this situation.
This wasn't a lifestyle choice. What part of that don't you understand?
