Snow is Back

David Gregory notes on Tony Snow's return to the White House. A very emotional return for Snow (check the video link).

Snow is known as one of the nicest guys in Washington and it's great to see him back and looking good.

On "Good Morning America" this morning, ABC's Chris Cuomo played for Snow a clip from "60 Minutes" in which Tenet says that the Bush administration "could never verify that there was any Iraqi authority, direction and control, complicity with al-Qaida for 9/11 or any operational act against America, period."

Snow's response: "Well, wait a minute, Chris. The president has been saying exactly that all along, so I don't know what the headline is ... The fact is, the president made it clear before the State of the Union in 2002 that there was no link between Saddam Hussein and September 11. So I'm afraid what's happened there is that George Tenet may have been referring to something that has been misreported or at least twisted by people who may have political motives in recent years, but there's been no attempt to try to link Saddam to Sept. 11."

(sigh) I'm hoping the chemo helps and that he beats his cancer. But he's still lying for the administration.

He's doing his job.

As to the 9/11 -> Iraq connection, that water is so murky I don't know what's what anymore.

You don't what's what anymore? Is there ANY credible source that suggests there was a connection? Key word - credible.

There are still a number of Iraqi intelligence documents to be analyzed.

There are two ways to look at this logically beyond the scope of believing what one wants to.

Logic path one says that Saddam would covertly aid and abet Al Queda to indirectly attack America.

Path two dictates that Saddam would be both afraid to be caught and also leery of religious fundamentalism and would stay clear of Al Queda.

So much of what transpired in Iraq after Gulf War I makes no sense that the ultimate truth may be years away from being known. For example, if he had no WMD then why play the games he did with the UN while his country was in bad shape?

That's what I meant by muddied waters.

Saddam HATED Al Qaeda. He worked to keep them out of Iraq. It can be any clearer that there was no connection. Even the pathetic Bush has admitted that, Gonz.

Saddam was scared of Al Queda and probably hated them - I would agree. The better reason he'd be interested in directing them elsewhere.

There's an similarity with the relationship between Saudi Arabia and militants. The Saudi's fund there activities outside of Saudi Arabia one reason for which is to discourage destabilizing Saudi Arabia.

If Tony Snow is the nicest guy in Washington, how could he blame the governor of Kansas for the Guard not being there, when she's been raising a stink since December 2005 about not having the equipment they need?
