Typical Republican non-sequitor. Yes, what Castro did to that documentary guy was bad. But Thompson didn't say anything about health care.

I think you missed the point.
Thompson was under no obligation to reply. He's not in office and doesn't speak for the GOP.
What he did do was respond in a way that was both humorous and contemptuous of Moore at the same time. That's very artful.
I thought it showed class and gamesmanship. This was another publicity stunt by Moore and Thompson responded appropriately. Although, arguably, he shouldn't have responded at all if taken seriously.
I repeat: This was not an invitation to a serious debate. It was a publicity stunt. And Fred played it perfectly.
