As a progressive I still champion solidarity with oppressed populations everywhere -- but going to war under false pretenses is a higher concern.
This idea that the democratic elections in Iraq are somehow a validation of an illegal and unjust war is pure whitewash.
Leading voices in America's "peace" movement are actually cheering against self-determination for a long-suffering Third World country because they hate George W. Bush more than they love freedom.
The US deposing of Saddam is hardly Iraqi self-determination.

Again, it appears he is finally coming to terms with who he really is (or at least admitting it to the rest of us.) What did he find in the mirror when he finally embraced these Neo-Con Apologists?

I just don't get what he is saying here... is he saying Leftists are becoming racists or that King would consider this war with Iraq a victory for civil rights?

I think you missed the point: The author is showing how progressive ideals are being sacrificed for political purposes. Ironic that your response to his thoughtful op-ed is mainly couched in soundbite phrases and ad-hominem attacks.
